Domaine Frederic Mabileau

Frederic Mabileau operates a 27 ha domaine with the majority of the vines concentrated in St Nicolas de Bourgueil. Frederic is of a winemaking family, his father, Jean-Paul, having been proprietor at Domaine du Bourg. Some of these old family vineyards have recently been brought back into the Mabileau family, as Frederic, with wife Nathalie, is determined to expand and improve his domaine. He manages his vineyard with a great consideration for the soil, the environment, and the quality of the fruit that results. The vines, predominantly Cabernet Franc, are largely Guyot trained, see leaf thinning as required, are interplanted with grass to encourage the vine roots deeper into the soil, and are hand-harvested.

Domaine Brusset

This white wine named after an area called “La Clavelle” comes from one of our best slopes. The sandy clay soil is ideal for the production of 100% viognier white wine.

25 hl / ha.

Harvest :

Hand-picked following strict ripeness checks.

Vinification :

Direct pneumatic crushing, settling of the must by cold treatment, no yeast-added, slow fermentation. 30% in oak-casks and 70% in vats at 18°C., stirring of the thin lees by a heating process during 4 months. Refined malolactic fermentation according to the vintage.

Ageing :

4 to 5 years.

Appearance :

A light, golden colour.

Tasting :

Aromas of flowers and summer fruits (apricots, peaches) follow the initial unhindered taste of honey.

Taste :

Supple and harmonious, and elegant wine with always a flavour of apricot.

Serve with :

Simply as an aperitif, or to accompagny shell-fish.
